There was a time when I was so crazy into PC mods that I even tried to make my own PC faster, cooler, game savvy and even look better. But this is one way cool heatsink PC mod.

Maybe some paranoids who have always been worried about one day their PCs would get extremely hot and it’d burn in flame so they’ve come out with a special case mod design - a PC case that encases your computer in cooling heat sinks. Having this PC case to frame all the computer components in it, surely lets all the heat escape in the fastest and easiest way.

There seems to be non-stop USB fun coming to your desk. After a few of the birds, the toilets, the music stations, now you get a little USB White Mike Tyson to throw punches for you on behalf. The desktop USB boxer is to be hooked up to your computer’s USB port. And you can control its fists to throw punches against the little punching sack by using your keyboard’s left and right keys.

The up and down keys on your keyboard will make it to rotate its base, which is a turntable. The USB boxer also keeps and displays on your screen for how many successful punches that you’ve landed through him. Simply fun to have on your office, once your nasty boss has screwed up your day and this is where you can simply throw punches to release your anger.

The price of this little gadget is £29.99 .

So is it worth getting this little piece of gadget to keep you happy by your PC when you burn that night oil. I leave this decision up to you guys . Below is a Video of how this things works.

philips-and-lite-on-digital-first-external-blu-ray-drive-020308.jpg

It seems now only those into Blu-ray discs and devices manufacturing are producing the first external Blu-ray drive. This is probably due to they have just won the HD/DVD and Blu-ray format war and now their position in the market is certain. The first external Blu-ray drive is produced by PLDS or Philips and Lite-On Digital Solutions. The drive is a USB connected (USB 2.0) BD-ROM drive that is capable of reading Blu-ray disc media at 4x, single layer DVD at 12x, dual-layer at 8x and CD at 32x maximum.

According to Gizmowatch, the external Blu-ray drive can only play user-recorded high-def content from a digital camcorder, but not commercial movies released under the Blu-ray Drive format. This is due to the copy protection issues and lagging software development. One reason is due to commercial content is encrypted with High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) which can be decrypted using a HDCP-compliant graphics card that offers DVI or HDMI connections. And currently in the market, PCs with graphics chips that support HDCP are not available yet, so making it impossible to play the commercial content. Another reason is the Blu-ray disc playback software that can decrypt HDCP isn’t declared as saleable item yet.

Anyway, there is no word on the price and when it hits the street for this first external USB Blu-rayd drive.

Innovation always brings us great gadgets. I think the Wi-Fi has already changed our lives by changing how we work on our computers. Now it is the time for the beloved memory cards.

We know that we already have many new digital cameras with in-built wi-fi technology. What about the old ones without this capability? Can we bring the wi-fi to them? I think we can now say there is a solution. Thanks to Eye-Fi, they have just introduced the world’s first wi-fi memory card.
Eye-Fi Wi-Fi Memory Card
You will be amazed to learn that this tiny card has wi-fi technology built in to it. First you have set-up the wifi card using the accompanying USB card reader (one time process), and then you can easily share your photos wirelessly without taking it out from your camera.
How Eye-Fi Card Works
The Wi-Fi card takes the power from the device to generate wi-fi signals. You can even set-up this card to automatically upload photos to your favorite online picture sharing website.

From Eye-Fi Press Release:

“Digital cameras have made it extremely easy to take pictures, but the rest of the process is a hassle,” said Jef Holove, chief executive officer of Eye-Fi. “The Eye-Fi Card removes the barriers and lets users get to the fun part of sharing and printing their memories. We’re putting the magic back into photography.”

Eye-Fi uses home wireless networks to eliminate the time-consuming chore of dealing with cables, card readers or software plug-ins associated with uploading photos. Users simply turn on their digital camera and their pictures are wirelessly uploaded. The Eye-Fi card works with existing and new SD-compatible digital cameras and stores photos like a conventional SD memory card.

The eye-fi card can be used in any device that supports regular SD cards. It allows you to store up to 2GB of data. This card allows you to connect to wi-fi /b/g/n networks and supports latest wifi security protocols.

Here are the technical specs:

  • Memory: 2GB
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi b/g/n
  • Security Protocols Supported: WEP 40/104/128, WPA-PSK, and WPA2-PSK
  • Range: 90+ feet outdoors and 45+ feet indoors
  • Card Dimensions: SD standard 32mm x 24mm x 2.1mm
  • Setup: Using USB Card Reader

The wireless card comes with USB card reader and the Eye-Fi manager software that allows you to easily setup this card to your home wi-fi network.

Touchscreen Coffee Table and Furniture!

With the advent of mobile devices, remote PC’s, laptops and seamless mobility, humans rarely have to sit at their desks to complete their work, and people hardly find time to sit through sitcoms at home. The traditional model of advertising is hence undergoing a major transformation. Advertisers are now targetting users on the cell phones, or IPTV or Interactive TV ads, and one new player in this ever-booming market is the Touchscreen Coffee Table.

With coffee shops providing free Wi-fi internet, you see a lot of youngsters and professional spending quite a bit of time in these cafes sipping lattes while surfing the web. But now you don’t even need to have a laptop to surf the web. A San Francisco-based startup called TableTouch has come out with a coffee table with a built-in Wi-Fi-enabled touchscreen and a software that allows you to browse the internet using your fingers. Customers can now choose and select to read the news and stories on their table while they have their cup of caffeine, and advertisers have found an innovative way to pop their products amidst these stories. So if a user finds something he likes, he can click on it and get more details, or disregard it and move on! Also featuring a built-in Bluetooth connection, the tables can send audio to your headset, so you can listen to the news without opening your eyes!! Now, that’s living like a prince, right?!! Apparently, the company also plans to extend this concept to regular furniture, TV consoles and more.

Trials with the first batch of these machines is live in Tully’s Coffee shops in the Bay Area, and the company’s founder and CTO John Calder is all set to install these smart and cute Coffe Tables in other cafes, airports, and bars in the coming year. This 5-year old startup is now competing with Microsoft, who is ready to launch its own brand called “Surface”, which is based on a similar concept. But is John afraid of the giant? No, because apparently, this market is growing so rapidly there’s room for a couple more players too!

So, may the best man win! I for one surely love this concept! No more carrying around a laptop on loong plane flights just to kill time during intermediate halts! Find your nearest Coffee Shop and you’d probably find a TouchTable already installed!! To read more about the company tableTouch, click here.
