If Only I Had It

Nokia maintains a Research and Development website that is usually filled with, well Research and Development stuff. Mostly it’s just boring images of scientists and r&d people at work - at least until you scroll to the top. That’s where the images of Nokia’s latest “research concept” phone are currently housed.

The “Aeon” seems to be your “typical” razr-thin candybar form factor cell phone with no actual buttons. No, it’s not the next generation of Nokia’s L’amour Fashion Collection. The bottom half of the prototype pictured here is actually a touch-screen display that can change (I might be going out on a limb here) into any kind of menu, button, keypad, whatever. It’s so damn cool that I’m almost speechless. I mean, yeah, the touch screen method brings up a ton of quirky problems - like causing damage to the display with those pointy thumbs of yours, among others - but it’s also so innovative and (brilliantly simple) that I can’t even associate it with the Nokia name. What happened to those super thick oversized fatso phones that Nokia keeps churning out?

So the Aeon got me pretty excited about what’s coming in the future of wireless technology. Of course, by the time this phone actually comes to market (if ever), I’m sure Motorola will have similar devices available, all with those really annoying vowel-less names that nobody wants  to pronounce. I really hope their next set of phones are called KRPR or something. It’d be more fitting.

I have been thinking lately. I joined a company called THG which is under the company called Marcus Evans. Now this guy Marcus is a multi millionaire who also owns the Ipswich Football Club. He made his fortune selling corporate hospitality for major sporting events around the globe.

His idea was very simple yet effective. CEO’s need to entertain their major clients. How do they do this? Bringing them out for simple dinners or even to have drinks at an expensive restaurant wont suffice.

He actually got sporting events such as Formula 1 and got hospitality at the nearest hotels to the event place. He created the event in the simplest of manner and was able to sell these events for huge profits. Now how much do you think the most expensive ticket to watch the race would be? He does not even get these tickets. The hospitality is always outside of the event space thus creating a maner for the CEO’s to talk and entertain their clients at a controlled environment.

The coming Singapore GP is being sold at USD 34,500 per table of 10 which comes with free drinks , vip speaker, food and many more but the costing of doing this is only 25% of the selling price. He makes tonnes of money creating these events. Now he has about 6 offices around the globe.

Why cant we normal people think of doing such things. Cheat the CEO’s out of their entertainment fund. They have a lot of it to spend anyway. If anyone comes out with such an idea next time please do let me know. I would love to invest.

 Hey guys, I know it has been a long time since I have last wrote on anything here. Have been quite busy with work and all. Yes I do have a life outside of this blog. I was also away on a holiday in the United States visiting a long lost friend of mine. Havent seen him for the past 12 years since we graduated.

He is actually a surgeon now based in the Big Apple. During my duration there I came across something that I thought I should share with you guys. Dont you get frustrated most of the time with promises from your ISP provider. They always say that their internet connection is the best but the truth is it is always expensive for nothing.

Most of the time my internet connection goes according to timing. Work time is always the best as well as from late night till early morning other than that the speed is more like a dial up connection although the price is more of a DSL line.

What am I talking about you might ask. Well it is Satellite Internet. This is more of a broadband service that uses a two way satellite connection. It is more clearly knowned as  Satellite DSL. The speed using this service is by far the best I have seen. Using it was a breeze and it was very good especially when I did a lot of video conferencing. I know by know you guys would say that this is great but is way out of my budget.

Well there is surely one thing I can tell you guys. It is within means. There is this company called HughesNet that supplies the equipment and the connection for this type of broadband facility. So far the pricing that I have seen them quoting is very cheap. It is only about USD 79 per month and there is multiple types of facilities that they are providing.

I would surely recommend this service to anyone who is seriously using the internet or even in fact to anyone who is using the internet paying for a service and not getting what they expect.

It has been quite a while now that I have actually really used a fax machine. All my faxes comes through my PC. There are so many ways of doing this. But here is the latest.

These days we all do our work on our computers. All documents are in the form of soft copy. But when coming to faxing the documents.It’s somehow pretty inconvenient especially for geeks like us who hate papers being scatted around. But we surely have to admit that not everyone in the society has adopted online services such as emails, e-fax, web etc. There is really no choice, in order to suit the other group of people who’re still in the dark side of Information Technology, we’ll have to print the documents in hard copy and fax over using a fax machine.

It has been a long time since I have spoken about Christianity. In fact these days I have lost all hope of even thinking myself as a Christian. In the last 5 months I have nearly lost all of my life savings and even tried committing suicide once. All these due to a stroke of bad luck. Bad luck in business can be so depressing. I am even down to my last dollar that I am not so sure how I am going to maintain this blog for any longer.

Speaking to so many Christians in my family they have always told me to look forward and talk to Christ and he will give me all the answers. But I do remember when I was going for Bible Study when I was younger that many Bible verses did mention that God can only help those who help themselves first. I have tried helping myself for the past five months and still to no avail. I am looking for a permanent long term job and no one dares to hire me due to my experience and the type of Salary I was receiving prior to my downfall. I am not asking for much now but still no replies.

Can God help me ? I am not so sure. I tried helping myself but the outcome is not so good. What else can I do. I prayed and still pray all the time for a miracle to happen. Just give me a job God please and let me look after my family as what a husband/son/brother/uncle is supposed to do. How am I supposed to face my wife and family day after day and cant even afford to feed myself that my retired mom has to take me out for lunch everyday.

Do you have to see me cry everynight before I go to sleep sometimes I even cry so badly in my heart that I just fall asleep sad.  Is there such a thing as Christian finance where other Christians are supposed to come together and help a fellow Christian up from his knees. This is all talk as far as I see it. No one seems to be helping me except my family yet how far can they go. I lost my car today because I could not pay the finance company its installment. How am I supposed to go to work now if I get a job.

God you work in mysterious ways what are you trying to tell me. When I was rich I gave you everything, I gave your people nearly everything. Am I supposed to live as a pauper today because of what I have done. Am I loosing my faith. Or have I lost my faith. I pray to you O Lord help me solve my problems, help me get a job that will allow me to praise your name, help me to sing to the skies and daily shout your name with joy O Lord. If not please do take me now and not let me suffer no more.

This site is da bomb. I have never seen a more comprehensive site that sells multiple financial products at the same time give so much of services away for free. Their service so far to me is great as I have just signed up with them and used 3 of their services. Simple to use and navigate through their site. Being a banker myself and an internet junkie if I were ever to create a website on financial products and try to sell some myself this site would be a first point of reference for me.

This lamp is the Gravia Lamp.

Gravia Lamp is a super green LED floor lamp that makes use of gravity to generate power for it to glow for hundred years. The Gravia Lamp is the LED lamp that is completely free from electrical cable or any related structure as it needn’t be attached to any power source to shine for you.

The Gravia Lamp makes use of slow fall of a mass to spin a rotor to generate electricity to power up its 10 built-in high-output LEDs. And the lamp has a unique way of turning it on, which works more or less like any hour-glass mechanism. To turn it on, you’ll have to turn it over to move the weights from the bottom to the top of the lamp and then it’ll start its slow falling journey to generate electricity to power the LEDs up and shine the way for you.

The Gravia Lamp is a Virginia tech student’s project, who won the designer, Clay Moulton, the first place of the Greener Gadget award. It’s claimed that this lamp can be used for 200 years at 8 hours a day!

 This two way crank it yourself radio is something to have if you would be out camping for a longer time than usual. This self powered radio generates its power from a dinamo that you have to crank up every once in a while. You should see this gadget in action. I believe that this gadget is really great in the energy saving part and also for the rugged outdoor lives.

I have always had this problem where the area I keep my mouse at gets dirty most of the time due to the friction againts the table. It is also the place where all the dust gets stuck at. I thought this cute little invention should be mentioned here. This little mouse does not only act as a USB optical mouse but it also acts as a mimi vacuum cleaner. You could use it to vacuum those little tight spots near your PC that keeps collecting that dust.

It shakes and moves. Would be fun to have it especially is you are using your laptop or PC till the late hours.
