PillCam

I was watching an old episode of House the other day. The patient wouldn’t allow Wilson to do a colonoscopy, so they had her swallow a Pillcam. The show followed the pillcam into her body snapping photos every few seconds. All very cool, but I didn’t believe a word of it. I thought it might be a good plot device for a medical drama, but I had no inkling that the Pillcam might be real.

It is. It’s made by a company called Given Imaging:

  • Given Imaging Patients Information: Abdominal Pain, Crohn’s Disease, Gastrointestinal bleeding, Inflammatory Bowel Disease

The PillCam SB video capsule is designed specifically to help your doctor see inside your small bowel (small intestine) to diagnose disorders such as Crohn’s disease, Celiac disease, benign and cancerous tumors, ulcerative colitis as well as others disorders. The small intestine is the part of the gastrointestinal tract that connects the stomach to the large intestine and absorbs nutrients. PillCam SB transmits images at a rate of two images per second for approximately eight hours, resulting in more than 50,000 images.

It’s funny how little trust I have in television programming. I immediately thought that Pillcam was fake and that the refusal of the colonoscopy was just a plot device to demonstrate the patient’s insistence on control. Now, I’m pretty sure the entire episode based on control was a plot device to show off the cool new toy from Given Imaging.

I have to admit that I love House M.D. and his gadget-loving ways. From his DS to his PSP to his tiny medical camera the size of a calcium pill and even his bad-ass motorcycle, he’s got to be the most geekiest of the television personalities.

This is surely the gadget for the fitness concious people. The healthy diets and 1 hour jogging trip in itself wont work. But with this phone in hand you would know what is actually happening.

As far as I know Adidas is well known in producing sport wear or fitness products. What does Adidas have to do with mobile phone? Of course, these days, it wouldn’t be a surprise those specializing in fashion or sport wear products are venturing into cell phone business too. So, now Adidas and Samsung somehow have teamed up to produce cell phones. And their first product is known as miCoach (F110), which is a fitness-centered cell phone.

The miCoach is a quad-band slider phone that features a dedicated fitness button that furnishes you with the details of your heart beat, distance covered, and running time, when hooked up with a heart monitor or a step counter. You can view the running information by tapping the cellphone’s screen without needing to hook it up to a PC. It’s loaded with over 220 fitness programmes which you can choose from. And the cellphone will feedback to you with your heart beat rate whether you’re going too fast or too slow according to the chosen programme.

Sexy Solar Outfit

Women seem to want more gadgets carried around while they’re on the road. Some designers have some kind of crazy thought of incorporating the gadgetry functionalities into dress or suit e.g. the solar bikini that lets you charge your gadgets while you’re lying down enjoying sun bath on the beach. Here comes a dress for the women, which I bet you wouldn’t dare to put it on you. The Day-for-Night solar dress is made up of 448 white circuit boards and with little sexiness added, which is a dress that would eventually carry all the functionalities for every gadget for the ladies.

You’ll notice in the picture above, the dress is made up of many small titles. Which each of them is specially designed to accommodate a solar cell, a RGB LED, or a photocell, and jumper connectors (in the form of 0 Ohm resistors). And a control board is concealed within, which provides power and communicates with the tiles and link to a computer via RF. The titles can be removed or added to adjust its sexiness (or length). Both the software and hardware of the dress are made in modular, which means you can add on more modules to extend its power. It’s some more programmable via your computer’s USB port to extend its functionalities.

Isn’t it pitiful having to carry many of the circuit boards that add so much burden to the ladies? But anyways the girls who wear this kinda shows off quite a bit of their body at the same time. So offer a lot of females to wear this dress with the idea that it will help with the environment and you will be rewarded “) .

Weight Changes

I was a bodybuilder in my younger days. I actually did mass bodybuilding as it was recommended to me by my friend’s dad. He himself was very much into bodybuilding at the time and he had a great body for his age. I was only 17.

I went to the gym every two days once. And in fact from already an athlete I could see a huge difference within the first month. I was now able to do like 200 push ups at any time of the day when asked. I was carrying weights up to 80% of my body weight. And my six pack was now becoming an eight pack. Nice huh. Well this is an old story .

Today I am 28 years old and I left my hometown to go to the big city where I dont do much excercise and am now not the ideal weight for my height. In fact I could be considered over weight. The worst part about it are my stretch marks. How do you prevent stretch marks if you dont excersize that often. Trying a new product that was given to me by my wife. Yeah she had stretch marks after giving birth. It is a stretch mark cream that prevents and also gets rid of stretch marks.

Revitol stretch mark cream has done wonders for my wife and I hope it would do the same for me. Will try it out as soon as possible together with my hair growth cream I hope that I will look different if not it would be difficult to go out with my wife for dinners anymore.

Talking Dumb Bells: When you're losing your strength to count during heavy work-out When you go for a hard dumb-bell work out, you’ll repeatedly take a deep breath, hold it and then release it. In such a repeated cycle of deep breathing, you’ll have no other strength left to count how many times you’ve carried out with the dumb bell exercise. So, you’ll surely need some assistance from the high-tech world. What about a pair of dumb bells that talks and reads out loud the count of your sweating run of the dumb-bell exercise?

Yes, you’ll surely need such a high-tech pair of talking dumb bells. It doesn’t only announce audibly the count for you, it also keeps track of the count for you and displays it on its LCD screen. Even though your hearing is going little bit disturbed due to heavy work out, you still can take a peek at the LCD display for the count. Its display will show you all the details including calories burned, workout time, lifts per minute etc.

Pencil Bench applies
What is presented to you is the Pencil Bench, a special design created by Boex 3D Creative Solutions, which is meant for spicing up the boring office by adding this uniquely designed furniture. Take a closer look or as suggested by its name, you’ll notice that there are over thousand or more pencils pointing out of the surface of the bench.

Of course the pencil butt end where the eraser is mounted is facing upwards. I guess it will apply certain pressure points to your butt that would induce better blood circulation, while you’re sitting on it. Amazingly, the bench is made from 1600 individual pencils. And anytime you can’t find any pencil around on your work desk, just pop over to this Pencil Bench, and extract a few from it to proceed writing your paper notes.

Turbo Toaster

turbo-toaster-201207.jpg

Lets face it, you’re one of the impatient ones, who can’t wait for the few minutes for a piece of brown bread from your toaster. You’ll always yell for much speedier toaster. Here comes the Turbo Toaster that can do it in less than a minute, which it takes just 50 seconds!

The Turbo Toaster seems to get inspired by a jet aircraft engine. It’s got a turbo fan on its side which sucks in air. And the air gets heated by the metal elements and blasted at the bread, making toast in trice. The Turbo Toaster is still in its prototype stage, which still has lots of rooms for improvement for its speed.

The designer, Oliver Newberry, who came up with this idea, was simply because of a conventional toaster always gave him some kind of frustration i.e. his Heinz beens would have always gone cold by the time the toast was ready. So, he did it on behalf of Heinz!

Nutri-weight Food Scale – For all your Food and Nutrition Needs

Gadgets and innovations have always fascinated me, as you might have guessed by the Tech Blog that I write. But as a chef who loves to cook, and yet likes to live a healthy life with a balanced diet so I don’t put on all that extra weight, I keep looking for ways in which I could keep a tab on what I eat so that I never go overboard. One such cool and neat kitchen gadget that I came across on the web was this ultra-sleek, retro Nutrition Food-Scale. Yes, just like a regular weighing scale, except that it looks like a laptop, this one is for the foods you eat, and it tells you clearly what’s the nutrition content of your meal so you don’t need to go by the rough estimates that you get from calorie and nutrition counters on the web!!

A look at this super-functional Nutriscale and you’ll know I’m not kidding. It analyses the nutritional content of your food by portion size, calculates the calories, protein, carbohydrates, total sugars, total fat, fiber, sodium, cholesterol, net carbohydrates and GI value of your food and then displays all this invaluable information in an easy-to-read format on a large LCD screen. This product that is sold by Salter Nutrition, has the advantage of a large data base that stores the nutritional values for over 1,440 foods and liquids, plus memorizes an additional 100 foods/recipes of your choice. And, it’s constantly growing, so you can be sure most of your foods are going to be on their list!!

It also comes with automatic predictive-text feature for quick and easy on-screen food search. You can even place all your raw food in a bowl and it’ll give you the combined results, minus the weight of the bowl. Find it too good to be true??!! I sure did, especially when I saw that it comes with a 10-year warranty, and is bundled at an affordable price of just $99.00 – that’s less than the consultation fee for most nutritionists!!

It even allows you to record daily food intake and set dietary goals, then review progress so you never lose focus on your goal. It’s like your own personal trainer, right in the convenience of your home!! And it is battery-operated making it a portable device. It is easy to clean and maintain, and looks really sleek. The only drawback I found in it is that it would only work for raw ingredients, not if you used it for a prepared dish, but then it’s easier to just weigh all your ingredients first so you know ahead of time how many calories you are eating and can adjust the amount that goes into making your dish accordingly, right? This device sure would work for me to keep a tab on my food intake. So if you are looking for gift ideas, this is one thing you should strongly consider. I am really inclined to buy one of these myself! If you’d like to order one too, here’s one place I found on the web – MetroKitchen
